Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and is looking forward to the New Year! Carl was lucky enough to have almost 2 weeks off for the holidays so we headed down to Arizona to spend Christmas with Joan and Lyle and my grandparents. We had a great time and I feel lucky that we have family close, because spending the holidays alone isn't always fun. I have to count my blessings now because are know there are holidays to come where Carl won't be here at all... Like Easter this year!

While it was nice to have Carl home and have alot of lazy time January and February are about to get really busy, hopefully for both of us! I'm still looking for a job and if nothing surfaces quickly I plan to put with a local temp. agency and get in some office experience! Carl's work schedule is getting busier. Being a DC they have tons of stuff to prepare for the next underway trip coming up in February. To our knowledge he should be leaving shortly after my birthday. The trip will be down south and then they'll be stoping in San Diego for a few weeks. So I'm hoping to make a short trip down there to see him, some friends and maybe Joan and Lyle will be able to meet us there! I'm getting kinda nervous, since this is our first boat and first patrol. But I have some good friends here, family close by and will have a job that will hopeful consume every extra minute I have! January 16th he's taking a flight back to Washington DC to go play Honor Guardsmen again for the Inauguration. We're crossing our fingers that he gets some tv time like he did with Ford's funeral ;)

I think we're about up to date now! Saydie is still a huge puppy and is driving us both nuts on a daily basis. But we love her anyway :) On the baby note, as most of you know thats on the back burner for awhile. Since getting diagnosed with Endometriosis when I lost the baby in May, I have been in different states of pain and frustation. But I have found a good doctor out here that is helping me work towards a healthier body and trying fight off this horrible disease. Hopefully we will have some good news this fall. In the mean time, bear with me and my lovely mood swings if you happen to catch me on the wrong day ;)

Carl's Boat - The Morgenthau

I finally have some pictures of Carl's boat. Thanks to Grant and Mom's visit, I got to see the boat and Mom took some great pics for us!! Just to give you an idea...

USCGC MORGENTHAU (WHEC 722), commissioned on March 10, 1969, was the eighth of twelve 378-foot “Hamilton” class High Endurance Cutters (WHECs) built by Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans, Louisiana. First homeported at Governors Island, New York, MORGENTHAU was active in the Vietnam War, conducting underway replenishment, naval gunfire support, and patrol duties off the coast of Vietnam until relieved by a 311' cutter in 1971. In 1977, MORGENTHAU became the first cutter to have women permanently assigned, followed shortly thereafter by USCGC GALLATIN. Currently homeported at Coast Guard Island in Alameda, California, her Pacific coast activities have included drug interdiction and seizures, foreign and domestic fisheries enforcement, search and rescue, and alien migrant interdiction.
He's having alot of fun on it! His first patrol should start in February down to Panama. Then over the summer there will be a patrol to Alaska. Carl also just found out that he will be going to the Inauguration in 2009. He'll most likely be in the parade with the Honor Guard. We aren't overly thrilled for obvious reasons ;) but Carl will have another great experience and get to see some friends and family! I'll post pics when it happens.

Bling Bling

After being naked for 2 1/2 years, Carl bought me a wedding band!! We thought we'd like to get one out here since this is where we got married and all. I love, love, love it! Here's some pics for ya'll to drool over :)

Saydies First Pool

Saydie went for her first swim right away when she got to G and G's in Las Vegas! She jumped right in the pool. She'll chase her ball or toys for 2 or 3 hours, until WE get tired! So cute. She also got to meet her sister (cousin) Bella :) . Saydie is a lil to hyper for her.

Cross Country

After 30 hours in the car, 2,800 miles and alot of gas we made it to Arizona! We went to the Grand Canyon with pup, Joan and Lyle. Had tons of fun. Felt good to walk around after all the driving.
